Holiday
makers who book their hotel
in Los Cristianos are well served by the many good restaurants in the
area. You can't
turn a corner in Los Cristianos without bumping into another restaurant. All

are catered

British
belly-buster
breakfasts to fine dining at it's very best.
There are German restaurants, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indian, Moroccan, Belgian, British, French ... The list is endless and that is great because whether you are looking for a cheap and cheerful bite to keep the kids going until dinner-time or a fancy, blow-out special occasion meal for two (you lucky thing!) then Los Cristianos is the place to find it.
The Spanish restaurants which serve local specialties are definitely worth a visit. Try fresh sardines in a Canarian seafood restaurant. You'll be hooked and probably never again feel like scooping their squashed counterparts out of a can. Papas Arugadas - little potatoes cooked in rock salt in their skins served with mojo verde or garlic mayonnaise is another local favourite. In general, you will find the Canarian food to be simple and tasty.
If you just feel like a fast food snack you could try a local version like Arepas - a corn pancake, stuffed with shredded chicken, beef or cheese. Or treat yourself to tapas which you can choose from an assortment laid out under glass in many local bars and cafes.
Two of Los Cristianos' best loved restaurants are tucked up in the San Marino cul de sac which is just a few minutes walk from the Valdez Centre and Eden buildings which make a good landmark for orienting yourself in Los Cristianos. Walk from Valdez Centre past the bus station and a few minutes further along to your left is a turn up into San Marino Apartments.
Tasca de Mi Abuelo
Apartments San Marino, Local 13
Avda. Amsterdam
Tel: 922 794 466
Foodtype: Spanish Tapas
![]()
The first, Tasca De Mi Abuelo, is a family run tapas bar and restaurant but that brief description doesn't really do the place justice. It is a warm and happy place and the owners pride themselves on providing delicious plates of tapas handmade from recipes handed down through generations of the family. If you haven't experienced tapas before this is a good place to start as you won't have to select from an unfamiliar menu. Each table is given the option of choosing dishes from those made fresh that day according to the chef's whim or seasonal specialities. On some evenings the owner ends the night by entertaining his guests with Spanish songs and guitar and on all evenings you are guaranteed to leave satisfied and content.

Overseas Oriental Kitchen
Apartments San Marino, Local 11-12
Avda. Amsterdam
Tel: 922 792 013
Foodtype: Chinese and Malaysian ![]()
(€5 cashback for diners from eTenerife)
This is another local favourite and also has a great reputation with those who return to Tenerife on a regular basis. It is one of those gems that may stay off your radar for a while but once discovered becomes a natural choice for dining out in Los Cristianos. Overseas Oriental is about as far from your average 'cartoon' Chinese restaurant as it is possible to get. No flashy red and gold here - just a soothing and elegant colonional interior and menu of classic Chinese dishes augmented by choice Malaysian curries and specialities. Expect delicious fresh food cooked to order in the Overseas Oriental Restaurant and gracious hospitality from your hosts Tommy and Shirley.

La Taberna Del Puerto
Paseo Maritimo
Tel: 922 796 277
Foodtype: Spanish

People who remember Sterlitzia in Buzanada will be delighted
to find owner Pedro in this new spot and with a similar menu
of good Spanish cuisine.

Subway
Paseo Maritimo
Foodtype: Gourmet Sandwiches
This is catty corner from La Taberna del Puerto and both can be found just before the tunnel to San Telmo. If you have ever watched the US version of the Biggest Loser then you know that the Subway franchise provides healthy protein packed sandwiches much beloved by the shows' loopy blue team trainer, Bob Harper.
Chill Out Tenerife
Edificio Cantabria, Local 4
Paseo Las Vistas
Tel: 922 792 776
Foodtype: International and Spanish
![]()
Chill Out Tenerife is the first restaurant you'll see after crossing through the tunnel from the harbour/church side of Las Cristianos. The menu of Spanish and international dishes should contain something to please everyone though their interpretation of 'Kid's Menu', is weird to say the least. My daughter being one of those picky eaters likely to be put off by monster proportions would not in a million years being able to get through a plate like that. As I had made a point of asking if the kid's dishes were really child's portions I found this annoying and wasteful though in its favour I have to say the restaurant itself is more a trendy 'chill out' spot for adults and the selection of tapas I shared with my adult companion was tasty enough.

San Telmo Kiosk
Paseo Las Vistas,
Playa Las Vistas
Foodtype: Snacks and Sandwiches
The San Telmo Kiosk offers a cheaper option for a snack and is found just on the beach-side of the walkway across from Chill-Out, perched on the path above the sand. It serves sandwiches, rolls, and snacks like Spanish omelette and the usual beverages including beer, Irish coffee, hot chocolate and a fruit-filled sangria which goes down far too easily if you happen to stop here for a moment to let the kids play in the sand.
