Restaurants in Las Americas range from familiar fast food outlets to stunning fine dining. Those with an adventurous palate can take their pick from international cuisine styles, eating dishes from a different country/culture every night.

For those who prefer good old meat-and-two-veg type dishes, British standard fare is available on every corner and British pub grub abounds. French, Flemish and German visitors are also very well catered for.

Only minutes from Las Americas is the lovely La Estancia, where eTenerife visitors can enjoy a free bottle of wine per couple. With an excellent a la carte menu, very entertaining theme nights and a most welcoming atmosphere it is no surprise that La Estancia was voted Tenerife's best restaurant in 2003.

Another restaurant that we recommend for special occasions is Claret's in Chayofa. A fifteen minute taxi ride from the centre of Las Americas, Claret's is elegantly housed in an old Canarian farmhouse. If you like red meat, you'll love Rodeo! You are given a red card and a green card when you enter the restaurant. Display the green card and slivers of juicy meat just keep on coming. When you are ready to burst, you have to signal your submission with the red card.

Oh, salad eaters are also well catered for as Rodeo boasts a huge salad bar.

I lived in Thailand for a couple of years and still hanker after Pat See Yoo, Kao Pat Gai and Pok Pok Salad. Still it was the lovely smiles of the Thai people that made Thailand such a special place to live. The King and I does a great job of both food and atmosphere.
