Kids
Love Las Americas!
Without doubt, Playa de Las Americas is Tenerife’s
main tourist destination. Located on the South West of the island in the
borough of Arona, Playa de las Americas is Tenerife’s playground.
Las Americas Beaches
Tenerife’s natural volcanic sand
beaches are a silky, sparkling, black colour. Though rather beautiful
volcanic sand and a rocky coastline are not high on the list of many
holidaymakers. Consequently in the late 1960’s work began to turn the
beaches of Adeje and Arona into the glorious stretches of white and yellow
sand you see today.
You will find great facilities at
most beaches including Playa la Troya and Las Cuevitas including toilets,
showers and a host of bars and restaurants on the promenade.
For those who like mixing a
little action into their beach time, there are several
diving centres in the
area (including Europe’s only Bob-Diving Centre), you can rent pedalos and
water scooters, go water-sking or parascending. On the other hand you might
just rent a sunbed for the day and top up your tan. Don’t whatever you do
forget to slap on the factor 25 the first day because it is hot, hot, hot!
Las Americas Activities
Another reason for the popularity
of the area is that there is simply so much on offer here. From fantastic
restaurants and bars, to theme and water parks, boat trips, golf and
an endless list of other fun-in-the sun activities.
Skypark in Torviscas Bajo is
a great spot for a family day out. Apart from the extreme rides like bungy-jumping
and SCAD diving there are also two pools. One for the little kids has a
water playgound with tumbling waterfalls and waterspouts. The other has a
killer water slide, a trampoline and a huge yellow banana to run across. (Easier
than it looks believe me)!
Eagle Park (Parque Las
Aguilas) is only minutes from Las Americas. It is aother must-see,
especially if you are on holiday in Tenerife with kids. 75,000sqm of
jungle walkways and curving trails, an adventure course, animals, cafes and
attractions. Of course the highlight of the day is the fabulous eagle show
itself where enormous birds of prey swoop down over the heads of the seated
audience.
Las Americas Nightlife
But don’t tire yourself out too
much during the day. The nightlife in Las Americas is legendary. Again there
is something for everybody. You could visit a different entertainment bar
every night of your holiday and still not have scratched the surface of the
singers, comedians and impersonators that are on offer here. Don’t worry
about missing the big match while you are here either there are many sports
bars and bars that cater for families.
Those that want to dance until dawn head off to Veronicas where the hottest DJ’s will blast you
with the best music all night long. Drink measures in Tenerife are stiff so
if you want to pace yourself try asking for an extra glass of mixer to top
up that quarter bottle of vodka they just sloshed in your glass.
Las Americas Accommodation
Like everything else to do with Las Americas and Tenerife, there is a
huge variety in accommodation - something for everyone. You can be pampered
head to toe in a fabulous five star hotel or opt for the more independant
option and book into a well serviced self catering apartment.
