You have to agree that K9 Animal Refuge in Las Chafiras does a wonderful job. Hundreds of abused and abandoned pets pass through their gates every year and many of the tales they have to tell are heartbreaking.

Not only do the staff and volunteers work hard to give the animals food, shelter and affection as well as hopefully find them new, loving homes, they must also stuggle hard against the financial odds of caring for so many creatures.

It is not all doom and gloom however. There are many happy endings for the dogs and cats that find new homes either here in Tenerife or in Germany. K9 Animal Refuge can be proud of their work and the K9 Animal Refuge Tenerife Annual Charity Gala is a chance both for some major fund-raising for the group and for the staff and volunteers, the dog-walkers, financial supporters and all of Tenerife's animal lovers to get together and celebrate the many four-legged friends who are now happily placed in forever homes.

Join K9 on Saturday the 15th of July for a  night of food and entertainment in the fabulous Rancho El Palm Mar which with its rustic adobe charm and traditional Canarian appeal will be laying on a three course banquet for both vegetarians and carnivores.

There will be entertainment throughout the meal, including Spanish singers and guitars, a table-magician and a display of El Tango.

... where spectacular items  like the stunning

'Tala Pearls'

(worth a staggering €1,860!) generously donated by Tenerife Pearl will be auctioned off to the highest bidder - all proceeds to go to the dogs, of course.

Celebrity guests will add a bit of sparkle and fun to the evening with Emmerdale Farm's Clive Hornby ( 'Jack Sugden' )- K9's Patron - leading the cast as our celebrity auctioneer.

Clive will be bringing several other friends and fellow actors from the popular ITV soap so fans of the show will be in for a treat.

The cream of Tenerife cabaret will not be forgotten of course as K9 have borrowed some top acts from some of the island's most exclusive venues and a top british act will be flown in to headline the event.

Every guest wll receive a complimentary goody bag stuffed with gifts from various local sponsors and a glossy souvenir programme in which we will outline K9's history, our plans for the next year, our objectives and mission statement.

The programme will also feature the event's sponsors and 30 advertisements from local businesses

All in all it sounds like Tenerife's gala night of the year. Considering the fabulous food, sparkling guest list, exciting auction, entertainment and goody bags it can't be often that you can truly say you had the night of your life, while saving the lives of others.
