Tenerife Information for Tourists and Resident Expatriates |

It is no surprise that Tenerife is such a popular holiday destination. It has such a range of activities and entertainment, from scuba-diving and parasailing to world class golfing and great bars and restaurants. There are theme parks and shows galore too. As is blindingly obvious to all who are eagerly awaiting its grand opening, Siam Park did not open its doors on May 1st. With no alternative date announced so far, we can only look forward to the park opening at some point this summer. This Thai styled water kingdom will be Europe's largest water park and boasts the biggest man-made waves in the world. Promising thrills aplenty, including the Tower of Power which hurtles the thrill-seekers over a lip and 28m down to a pool surrounded by alligators and The Lost City, a water playground for the kids, a day entrance to Siam Park will cost £21 per adult and £14 per child giving the over-priced and over-rated Agua Park a run for its money. The accommodation is just as varied with fabulous five star hotels or private villas offering every luxury to those who like to holiday in style to well-appointed self-catering apartments for the more independant tourist. Many people return to Tenerife for their holidays year after year and quite a few of them eventually decide to buy a property here. The first place to start of course is with a reputable and experienced English speaking estate agent who will guide you through the process of buying your new Tenerife property. A relatively new addition to eTenerife.com is the inclusion of articles related to buying property in Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Cape Verde. Going by the number of requests received for this type of information it would seem that many who are researching buying property in Tenerife are open to the investment potential of these other fabulous islands.

Tenerife Living and LeisureTenerife Tip: The hazy kalima's that occasionally hit Tenerife do more than obscure the view of Teide. You can feel your skin stretch with the heat and dryness of the air. A dab with a chamomile teabag will make that feel much better. Enjoy a cup of manzanilla, pop the bags in the fridge and use them to soothe itchy or irritated skin. Medical Appointments: For expat residents who do not speak particularly good Spanish, making a medical appointment via the 012 telephone number can be a nightmare. It is good to know that you do not need to muddle through a tortured phone call any more as medical appointments at social security clinics can now be made online. Visit the Cita Previa page on the gobcan.es website. You'll need your social security medical card to hand and just follow the directions there. Fill in your details and you'll be given a choice of two dates. All very straightforward but as per the usual 012 number, the appointment is likely to be for 10 days or more in the future. Note that the last time I used this facility I was pleasantly surprised to receive a cita that was only two days in the future. Not quite as surprised as I was to find out that the appointmant had not actually been registered at the clinic. So... its good to know this service is available but you should also know that is seems to be less than reliable. Tenerife to Lanzarote: Bargain Accommodation: Alondras park in Costa Del Silencio have cut rates on one bedroom self catering apartments. Good to know. My cousin and family stayed there last year - five of them and said the room was spacious enough for six, with maid service and fresh towels every second day. Possibly the reason for the reduction might be the on-going public works in CDS at the moment. Some roads have been blocked and some changed to one way but there is not too much disruption. Tenerife Business - Company ProfilesIn the early 2000's, it seemed that many Tenerife companies were reluctant to fully embrace the internet. Where a select few carved a little out of their overall advertising and marketing budget to test this new technology, many others dug in their heels and waited for the short-lived WWW trend to pass. Oh, how things have changed! Now, the brightest and best of Tenerife's professional and service industries are quick to take advantage of the new communications tools and have both database driven websites and daily updating blogs. If you are considering doing business of any kind in Tenerife, eTenerife's Company Profiles is a great place to start looking for professional services. Live RSS feeds allow a sneak peek at the company news and philosophy of the islands movers and shakers.
