As with many of the other categories, expect to see the best bargains in the off seasons. People don't have much problem letting their holiday apartments during Christmas, Easter or Summer holidays - though great last minute deals can still be found - but with more holiday apartments to let in Tenerife than there are tourists to fill them, canny owners offer standard rates through booking sites but cut-to-the-bone rates on eBay in low booking periods.
You might also find that with some apartments charging high cancellation rates in the period directly before a booking, those who have a sudden need to change their holiday dates are better off selling or auctioning their bookings off on eBay than paying the forfeit.
