Follow the Golf Stream to Tenerife PropertyAhhh. Tenerife is a golfer's paradise but, you know it is just all so stressful. Trying to decide which iron to use for the next shot and then should you book another round on this course tomorrow or perhaps it would be better to opt for one of the other eight great golf courses that the island has to offer. These are only a few of the weighty decisions faced daily by those who have invested in property in Tenerife especially as golf and property in Tenerife make such ideal partners. The sunny climate practically forces you out on the greens while the golf courses themselves provide a peaceful buffer zone for the sought after properties which are built nearby. The Tenerife government realises the worth of golf- tourism and devotes a section of its tourist information website to information oneach of the golf courses. For a more detailed view, lets go and suss out the courses, starting with Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf just west from the main Reina Sofia airport in the south east corner. Both hug the rugged coastline in an area popular with walkers and hikers and both have 27 holes and are a par 72. The coast here is a bit wilder than at the main resorts and that is reflected in the ravines and natural obstacles of Golf del Sur and the amazing 5th hole at Amarilla that challenges you to fire the ball across the sea to the other side of a gap in the cliffs. The two modern resorts were built just off the main motorway and the apartments and villas line the edge of the course, it's like having the smartest lawn in town, except you don't have to mow it. Everyone has differing playing abilities and varying time to spend out on the course, so if you just fancy a quick 9 holes, get along to Las Galletas. The charming fishing village is home to Golf Los Palos . Keep heading west and you will hit Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, the main beach and entertainment centres of the south. Las Americas is a magnet for young clubbers to dance away the night but for a different type of swinging, just take a short walk to the back of the resort and Campo de Golf las Americas will give you a pleasant surprise. Designed to shut out the distractions of the bright lights and the main motorway, this gentle sloping course is like an oasis of natural delights cradled in the middle of some fine luxury apartments. Further down the coast and heading up into the west are the upmarket resorts of Bahia del Duque and Fanabe where 5 star hotels dominate. These carefully developed beaches soon give way to the more unspoilt coastline of Costa Adeje and one of the jewels in the islands golfing crown. Golf Costa Adeje is a large 27 hole course that makes full use of terraces and palm tree clusters left when the banana plantations were redeveloped. The Spanish Open came to town in 2003 and Europe's top golfers were all impressed by the quality of the course. Things have changed since golf was all that was on offer at the islands courses. Abama Golf is a complete leisure experience with tennis courts, its own beach and fine restaurants that have served Bill Clinton and Zinedan Zidene in recent times. Families are always welcome as testified too by Hilly James and her brood of five in a recent article in The Times newspaper . Your island education is almost complete but not before a trip to the north. The climate is a little different on this side of the island, more green and lush, pretty good for golf courses. Buenavista Club de Golf is perched on the north west tip and has the impressive Teno mountain range as a backdrop. Severiano Ballesteros designed the course and blended the best features from his World wide experience in with the natural beauty that the area offers. After the game, a meal in the restaurant overlooking the sea is a special treat.
