There's also some excellent off plan investment opportunities here. Some of the most hotly tipped areas include: Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Cotillo, La Oliva and Villaverde.
Fuerteventura is located on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico with only a narrow channel separating it from the African continent. Stunningly beautiful, with surreal lava-scapes, volcanic mountains and endless sandy beaches, Fuerteventura is a peaceful and relaxed island, ideal for families and couples.
This is a paradise for sun, beach and water sports fans and also the best island on the archipelago for surfing. Sailors and scuba divers are drawn to these clear, blue Atlantic waters throughout the year. Whales, dolphins and marlins are common sights offshore.
With temperatures rarely falling below 18°C or rising above 24°C, Fuerteventura has a very pleasant climate, all year long.
Fuerteventura is apparently the oldest of the Canary Islands.

Living on Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura's airport caters to numerous national and international flights, that mainly come from Europe.
There are no British schools on Fuerteventura, so if you have children they would have to enter the Spanish education system, where all schooling is conducted in Spanish. This is, of course, one of the best ways to ensure your child will be bilingual (English/Spanish) and is the course chosen by many expats living on neighbouring Tenerife, even though they have the opportunity to send their children to one of several good quality English or international schools. Most children, unlike adults, can pick up the new language within six months to a year.
In order to apply for a school place you'll have to be registered as living in the "municipio" which you can do at the town hall (Ayuntamiento).
Most large towns and villages on Fuerteventura have a health centre and there are private clinics in most of the tourist resorts. The hospital is in Puerto del Rosario, the island's capital. It can deal with most medical conditions. If however, you require specialist treatment that's not available, you'll be sent to the hospital in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria.
If you're paying social security contributions, you're entitled to use the Spanish healthcare system. Normally, if you have a job (with a contract) you're employer should be paying these for you. If you're self-employed “Autonomo” you should be paying them yourself.
Living here on this paradise island has become a reality for many UK residents. If you're serious about it or just want more information you should contact one of the many real estate agents in Fuerteventura. They speak English, and can provide all the relevant advice.
