Tenerife has a high percentage of expats living here either full or part-time. Add to
them the number of non-Tenerife residents who own property here for investment
purposes or for holiday letting and one may wonder what is it about the island that
makes Tenerife such an attractive prospect.
Ask any expat resident of Tenerife why they moved to the Canary Islands and we’re
sure Tenerife’s weather will feature in their reply. Comfortable lifestyle, easy
going people and good facilities are all factors too. Tenerife has good hospitals and
great schools. It is a short flight from the UK making a trip home or visits from
family easy to organise and inexpensive.
While expats do enjoy the experience of being in a foreign country, Tenerife does not
cause the same level of culture shock that you would experience in a more exotic
destination. You can find almost any British food or beverage for sale in the
island’s many British supermarkets.
Many who buy an apartment in Tenerife to let to holidaymakers, reserve a month or so
for their own use. The remaining weeks of the year are easy to fill, especially in Los
Cristianos. Tenerife is after all, one of Britain’s most popular holiday
destinations.
Investing in a new development
in Tenerife is also an option. Many couples who are considering retiring to Tenerife
in a few years time, benefit by purchasing their property in advance. As their
retirement dates near, they have the option of selling their original property and
using the profit towards a more permanent home or simply moving in to their brand new
home on completion.
