The Cape Verde Archipelago of islands will soon rank
as the number destination in the world for property investment, that’s
according to the new investment tracker from ‘Where on Earth’
The ‘Hot Property Index’ uses a range of variables
such as media coverage and internet searches to identify investment
trends, growth areas and which countries to steer well clear of!
Bulgaria is currently the owner of the top slot for
2006, but with immense interest from the media and the fact that ‘key
figures’ within the tourist industry are showing great interest in Cape
Verde, makes it the newest tourist destination hot property.
Riu Garopa
One key industry figure is that of the hotel chain
Riu, who is opening this month its second resort in Sal, Cape Verde. Club
Hotel Riu Garopa has 500 guest rooms, and is set to open on the 27th
October 2006. The five star all-inclusive holiday resort is situated right
on the beach front next to sister hotel Riu Funana, which it self is only
twelve months old.
The new development, all-inclusive, named after the
local fish ‘Garopa’ boasts four themed restaurants - Cape Verde cuisine,
Grill, Asian cuisine and Rodizio {Brazilian style meat} as well as all the
other high class facilities that you would expect from a hotel of this
standard.
Beach Life
Another new development is the construction of 300
low rise apartments in Ponta Preta, Cape Verde adjacent to the Riu hotels
- beach apartments where you can have on your doorstep the white sands and
windy waters that make the south coast so beautiful.
Both new developments are located on Sal’s most
southerly tip, with awe inspiring views towards the warm surrounding seas
that lap the golden beaches.
Sal, ‘The Salt Island’ may culturally not have much
to offer but it is plentiful with exquisite birds and unusual shells, well
worth a visit for ornithologists.
Santa Maria
Nearby are the capital of both the island and the
newest industry of tourism - Santa Maria. From Amilcar Cabral
International Airport it’s a 30 minute drive to Santa Maria, with its sea
shore hotels and abundance of leisure activities including; deep sea
fishing and other water sports.
The 8km long golden beach in Santa Maria is
definitely the island’s main attraction and is considered to be one of the
five best locations in the world for wind surfing.
