Okay, this is one Tenerife event you are not going to want to miss.
Exposaldo 2010 is the biggest sale event on the island. It happens twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer and if you want to find brand new products at rock bottom prices, it is the place to be between the 9 and 16th of June.
Last year over 50,000 shoppers squeezed through the summer expo in search for bargains in clothing, shoes, real and costume jewelry, appliances, electronics, toys, house and garden items and used cars.
Except for the second hand cars almost everything is new. The stock is from liquidation, excess stock and auction houses and the sales prices are kept low by allowing all the vendors to share in the advertising and marketing costs associated with the event. As you can see from the picture, not a lot is spent on presentation but that is forgiveable as all the savings go to you, the customer.
According to the organisers the success of the event depends on the diversity, quality and low prices of the stock on sale.
The venue is the International Trade Fair and Conference Centre in Santa Cruz and public opening hours are 11 am to 9 pm from 9 to 13 of June.
Interestingly enough, the Exposaldo rules state that exhibitor staff are allowed into the centre only half an hour before the public and have only half an hour to pack up and leave after the public have gone for the day.
That goes some way to explain the rummage sale appearance of the stand featured in the picture above, doesn’t it? It would also suggest that the exhibitors are not going to be keen to take unsold items home at the end of the expo. They will barely have time to nip to the servicios at the end of the day never mind packing all the leftovers up for hauling back to the shop.
Entrance to the event will cost €3 but that is a bargain considering what a treasure trove is to be found inside. There is also a kid’s play area for children between 3 and 8. (Just to make sure they don’t throw a wobbly and get in the way of your shopping).
