Though nowhere near as lively as Las Americas and Los Cristianos, Costa Del Silencio has a wide range of bars. Because it costs so much to change the name of a bar, you’ll see the same bars staying open year after year, though the ownership may well have changed hands.
With the blistering speed at which bars change hands, new places open and older ones close temporarily or forever, it would be impossible for me to attempt a comprehensive list of bars in Costa Del Silencio. Instead here are a few suggestions of watering dens in the neighbourhood with a preference to those bars that are kid-friendly.
Flicks
Seafront, Amarillo Bay,
Costa Del Silencio
Tenerife
Tel: 922 786 248
Full daily menu and nightly cabaret. A very popular destination for residents and tourists for the Sunday afternoon show. There is a large area in front of the bar, leading down to the sea. Service is non-existent in the daytime – go to the bar and get your own.
Stella’s
Coral Mar
Costa Del Silencio
Friendly bar offering good food at good prices. Stella makes the best fresh, fat chips on the island – none of that frozen in a bag nonsense.
El Penalty
Coral Mar (up the side of the supermarket)
El Penalty is a family bar run by a young couple. Though there is no menu the owners are constantly plying their customers with titbits and lollipops and sweeties for the kids.
Scooters
Calle de Hercules
Friendly little bar run by a Scottish couple who between them keep everyone well fed and watered.
Bar Trebol
This place has been open for donkeys years. The owner also runs a very popular restaurant in the back. This is where you can pick up your lottery tickets for the Friday Euromillions (though the lottery shop opposite the police station in Las Galletas seems to have had more winners).
